For Spencer and Jessica Clayton, Governors Club in Chapel Hill, NC, represents more than just a new home—it symbolizes the community and lifestyle they have always envisioned for their family. Originally from Asheboro, North Carolina, the Claytons were familiar with Governors Club through friends and knew it was where they wanted to plant their roots.

Spencer works as a Business Operations Manager for a commercial construction equipment rental company in Raleigh, while Jessica serves as the Director of Customer Success for the AMER and LATAM regions at a software company. Together, with their two young children, Henry (5) and Sutton (3), the family has embraced life at Governors Club since moving in nearly a year ago.

The decision to move to Governors Club was swift and decisive. "We were living in a custom-built home in Pittsboro but were looking for more amenities for our family," Spencer shared. After a single tour of Governors Club Country Club, they quickly listed their Pittsboro home and began their search within the community. Governors Club Realty played a crucial role, with agent Kimberly Lovegrove successfully guiding them on their real estate journey. The Claytons chose to work with Governors Club Realty because they were confident there was no better team to help them find a home in the neighborhood. “We knew we wanted to be nowhere but Governors Club,” Jessica explained. “It was important for us to partner with a team that had the deepest knowledge and expertise about the neighborhood.” Their agent made a lasting impression with her warm approach and professionalism. “Kimberly was so personable and easy to work with that we ended up working with her on three separate occasions,” Jessica shared.

Their current home captured their hearts immediately. Jessica described it as a vision for their family's future, drawn especially by the stunning lot and breathtaking views. "It's rare to find a mature lot with such beautiful views," Spencer explained, adding that expansive windows throughout the home highlight the scenery and abundant natural beauty surrounding them.

Inside, Jessica’s love of design shines. “The house had a bold personality when we bought it—hot pink lanterns, glittering gold doorknobs—but I saw the potential.” She’s since transformed it into a peaceful, sophisticated retreat with monochromatic tones and travel-inspired decor. The fireplace serves as a striking architectural focal point of the room. It is elegantly crafted from limestone with a contrasting black firebox, which enhances the visual depth and adds timeless sophistication.

Both Jessica and Spencer have found fulfilling ways to immerse themselves in community life. Jessica discovered a love for tennis and actively participates in club activities, while Spencer enjoys golfing on the pristine courses. The community, however, has given the Claytons much more than recreational opportunities. "We've made many friends who feel like lifelong connections," Jessica expressed warmly.

Family life in Governors Club has exceeded their expectations, offering a genuine sense of belonging and friendships for both adults and children alike. Henry and Sutton have quickly become involved in local activities like golf and tennis camps, and the entire family relishes hosting gatherings and exploring new experiences together.

The Clayton family looks forward to continuing to build memories and strengthening connections within Governors Club. "We never felt the true sense of a forever home or community until we moved here," Jessica concluded, highlighting the meaningful chapter they've begun in Governors Club—a community they proudly call home.
