Tad's Journey to Finding Home in Governors Village

In the heart of Governors Village, tucked away on the peaceful streets, lies the charming abode of Theron VanDusen, affectionately known as Tad. Originally hailing from Detroit and raised in Connecticut and New Jersey, Tad made North Carolina his home in 1988 when he came to attend Duke Law School. Tad discovered Governors Village years ago when some friends lived here. “When it came time to downsize from the big house in Chapel Hill proper, I knew that this part of Chatham County and particularly Governors Village would significantly lower property taxes and still be ideally situated to take advantage of all that Chapel Hill, Pittsboro, and Durham have to offer," he shared.

Tad's sons live nearby - one in Durham and the other in Fuquay-Varina. Tad cherishes the time spent with his sons and gathering for family dinners at home each week. Their beloved Labrador, Dixie, is well-known and loved by all in the neighborhood, leaving a lasting impression wherever she goes.

When the time came to downsize from his previous home in Chapel Hill proper, Tad made a thoughtful choice to settle into a cozy home on Webb in Governors Village. Eventually, a desire for a different floor plan led him just two cul-de-sacs down. Jill Ehrenfeld with Governors Club Realty / BOLD Real Estate handled both transactions for Tad. "Jill was fabulous to work with, responsive, knowledgeable, and astute,” he remarked, highlighting the smooth process that led him to his dream home.

The home Tad chose boasts a carefully designed layout, where the living room, dining area, and kitchen merge harmoniously and create an open and airy atmosphere. The living room, extending up to the second floor, allows an abundance of natural light to filter in, and the beautifully crafted railing adds an elegant touch. Tad treasures the privacy of the master bedroom, which offers its own access to an inviting brick patio, ideal for peaceful mornings or quiet evenings.

Reflecting on his community experience, Tad finds Governors Village to be a friendly and welcoming neighborhood. He has formed connections with his current cul-de-sac neighbors as well as those from his former address, highlighting the close-knit spirit of the community. Governors Village's ideal location offers easy access to local events, activities, and amenities, making it a perfect place to call home.

After retiring from his illustrious legal career, Tad has embraced a more leisurely lifestyle. He describes himself as a fitness enthusiast, enjoying regular workouts, reading, and spending time at the beach.

In Governors Village, Tad has discovered a tranquil haven that perfectly blends privacy and community. His warm and welcoming home reflects the essence of this charming neighborhood, where cherished memories are made, and new friendships flourish.
