Recently, the neighborhood welcomed EB Wines, the newest venture from award-winning sommelier and winemaker Esteban Brunello. This boutique wine shop features a curated selection of more than 500 bottles from around the world, along with wines by the glass ranging from $10 to $17. Brunello is focused on creating an educational experience for customers in a relaxed atmosphere. As he put it, “It’s all for people to say, ‘Hey, this guy is going to be able to guide me to a good bottle of wine by the end of the day.’”

New Coffee Shop:

Munchilove, a woman-owned coffee shop and bakery founded by Amanda Damon, has joined the growing lineup in Governors Village. Originally launched in Durham, Munchilove quickly developed a loyal following for its signature brownies with a patented center pocket—perfect for a variety of creative fillings. The new location offers a cozy setting for coffee dates, casual meetups, or a sweet moment of solitude. From rich espresso to inventive baked goods, Munchilove invites neighbors to enjoy quality treats and a welcoming atmosphere just steps from home.

New Dance Studio:

Neighborhood dance space Studio Move is bringing movement and creativity to the village. Founded by longtime educator and dancer Casey Hall, the studio offers classes for all ages and levels, including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, Creative Movement, Ninja Club, and adult dance. With a background in both education and performance—including time spent with professional dance companies in Boston—Casey brings a well-rounded approach to instruction. Studio Move focuses on building skills like coordination, confidence, and teamwork, while also nurturing self-expression and a love for the art of dance.

The recently completed expansion of Cor4 Fitness has also added to the neighborhood’s energy.  Known for its strength, endurance, and wellness-based programs, Cor4 now welcomes more members into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. It sits prominently on the corner of Governors and Moring with huge, glass garage doors allowing members to bring the outside in while getting in their workout. "We are excited about the opportunities our new location offers," says owner Cory Gibson. "It allows us to support a larger community, ensuring that more people can achieve their health and fitness goals."

New, larger location for growing Mixed Martial Arts Studio:

Beacon Mixed Martial Arts has relocated to a larger space at 50051 Governors Drive, Suite E. Beacon offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai classes and is recognized as Chapel Hill's top destination for mixed martial arts training. "We were busting at the seams after two short years, so the move couldn't have come at a better time," said owner and head coach Kirby Farrales. “We have so much in the works to mirror our Philadelphia-area headquarters: an after-school program, summer camp, physical therapy, individualized performance training, more noon classes, and eventually morning classes—and we finally have the space to get it all done."

Support Local!

Governors Village has always been a great place to live. Now it’s also becoming a great place to spend your time, meet up with friends, or try something new without leaving the neighborhood. When you support local businesses, you’re helping build a stronger, more connected community for everyone.
