Governors Club Lights Luminaries for Ronald McDonald House Charities

This month's featured home is the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle, which serves as a home away from home for families with children receiving medical treatment.  At the heart of their holiday season activities is the annual Light-a-Luminary event, now commemorating its 30th year. The event has grown significantly, with over 80 local neighborhoods actively participating in illuminating more than 100,000 luminaries.

Governors Club stands out as the largest contributor to this meaningful event. Known for its beautiful homes and fantastic golf course, the Governors Club community is more than just a picturesque neighborhood. Its residents are actively engaged in philanthropy, generously giving back to those facing challenges.

The team at BOLD Companies, which includes Governors Club Realty, had the privilege of contributing to the Light-a-Luminary event by assisting in the preparation of luminary kits. This process included putting together flyers, candles, and bags. The BOLD team was able to assemble more than 700 luminary kits during one of their monthly “Fun Friday” volunteer days. The kits will sell for $10 each, which means the kits assembled by BOLD will help raise more than $7,000 for the Ronald McDonald House.

These luminary kits serve a dual purpose: they function as a symbol of solidarity and support while also acting as a source of funding for the Ronald McDonald House. The sales generated from luminary kits have been substantial. Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle expects to raise an impressive $140,000 this year from luminary sales. These monies help to pay for lodging, food, therapy dog programming and game nights for families.

BOLD Companies facilitates its involvement in giving back through its philanthropic arm, the BOLD Foundation. While the foundation primarily focuses on supporting local children in need, its reach extends to anyone within the local community needing a helping hand. While the team values the mission of philanthropy, they also view volunteering as an opportunity to connect and bond outside of work.

It's important to remember that collective efforts can have a substantial impact beyond just monetary support. The Light-a-Luminary event is a great example of this, as it transforms the act of decorating communities, into a powerful symbol of solidarity with families who are facing medical challenges. This event serves as a reminder for those whose holiday season may look a little different than ours and encourages us to reflect on the true meaning of the holidays–the spirit of giving.
