Greenbow Estate is a custom home built by BOLD Construction and nicknamed for a meaningful reason. Dan and Kim named their home after the fictional Alabama town from Forrest Gump, the movie they saw on their very first date. It’s a quiet nod to their story as a couple and a reminder that this home was designed to reflect not just where they live, but who they are.

While the name honors their shared history, the home itself was shaped largely by Kim’s vision. Thoughtful, grounded, and family focused, she wanted a house that supported everyday life, one where connection felt easy and time together came naturally. Dan and their two sons were fully on board, rallying around a simple goal: create a place their family would genuinely enjoy being together.

Choosing Governors Club, Even From Out of State

Although their lives were still based out of state, Dan and Kim knew they wanted to put down roots in Chapel Hill. With demanding careers, two sons in college, and weekends often spent traveling for competitive soccer, relocating full time during the build wasn’t realistic.

Like many buyers considering building a home from afar, they kept asking the same question: how do you build a highly personal home when you can’t be on site every week?

For them, the answer came down to clarity, communication, and trust.

Staying Connected From Hundreds of Miles Away

Working with the BOLD team, Dan and Kim were able to stay involved from out of state through clear communication and consistent progress updates. From the beginning, they wanted a documented plan, predictable timelines, and honest insight into what was happening on site.

Regular check ins, photo updates, and flexible communication made it possible for them to stay involved without disrupting their already full schedules. Whether it was a late evening call or a weekend text, they always felt connected to the progress of their home.

That sense of connection made all the difference. Decisions felt informed. Progress felt real. And most importantly, the finished home felt exactly like the one they had envisioned from the start.

A Home Designed for Everyday Living

Inside, the home feels bright and open without sacrificing warmth. Large windows bring in natural light and highlight the scale of the main living spaces, while thoughtful details keep the house comfortable and livable.

The kitchen balances clean lines with smart storage, including hidden pantry doors that maintain a streamlined look. A custom cable railing preserves sightlines between levels, keeping the home visually connected. Even the space beneath the stairs was designed intentionally, offering practical storage for everyday life.

The primary bathroom serves as a calm retreat, with spa like finishes chosen to feel restful at the end of a long day. Upstairs, a dedicated theater room has become a favorite gathering space, perfect for movie nights, big games, or simply spending time together.

A Story That Reflects What’s Possible

When Dan and Kim finally walked through their completed home, they described the moment as overwhelming, in the best way. Their experience is a powerful example of what’s possible for out of state buyers who want to build something personal without putting their lives on pause.

In Governors Club, many homeowners share a similar path, falling in love with the setting first, then building a home that fits their life, their family, and their future. Dan and Kim’s story is a reminder that with the right plan, the right communication, and the right team on the ground, distance does not have to stand in the way of creating a place that truly feels like home.
