Steve Braun


Steve Braun has been involved in Governors Club since 1991. Originally a Midwesterner from Indianapolis, Indiana, he has resided in the Triangle area since 1985. Married with 2 children and an Airedale Terrier, his home life is busy.

Previously in commercial real estate, Steve has been a North Carolina Broker since 1990. He has personally listed and sold over $175,000,000 of Governors Club real estate.

Kay Dunson


Kay Dunson relocated from her home in Okemos, Michigan, to North Carolina in 1988. In 1993, Kay joined Governors Club Development Corporation and quickly developed a love and appreciation of Governors Club, its property owners, and the beautiful homes and terrain in the community. She and her husband love Chapel Hill and cannot imagine living anywhere else. In 1996, Kay became a licensed salesperson and the Sales Office Manager and has since received her broker's license. Kay has a passion for working closely with people from all over the world and embraces the opportunity to help them find their dream home or homesite. This translated into her having been recognized as GCR's Salesperson of the Year in 2007.

Sales Executive

Mary grew up in Michigan, graduated from Michigan State University (Go Spartans), moved to N. California for 2 years then landed in North Carolina in the summer of 1995. Shortly after moving to the area she began working as ARB Coordinator for Governors Club, Governors Village and also worked regularly with the Custom Home Program. After 5-1/2 years Mary made a move to diversify her real estate experience. She worked as Marketing & Housing Coordinator at The Preserve at Jordan Lake, then returned to Governors Club teaming up in Sales with Scott Kelley in January, 2005.

Mary has held her NC real estate license since 2000 and is thoroughly enjoying working at Governors Club Realty “from my first visit during my job interview in September ’95 – new to the area and not knowing anything about Chapel Hill… this property and area just felt like home and I knew it was something very special and wanted to be involved…”

Mitch moved his family to the Triangle area from the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC in 2003. His wife Melissa and their two young boys, Alec and Austin, couldn’t be happier with the Carolina lifestyle.

Mitch has spent over 20 years in sales and sales management. Prior to joining Governors Club Realty he was a Strategic Market Manager of Mobile Computing for Xybernaut Corporation. Mitch worked with industry leaders in a variety of vertical markets including Telecommunications and Automotive.

Mitch joining Governors Club Realty had its origins some 30 years earlier as the high school friend and then college roommate of Raoul Rushin, the Principal of GCR. There was always a vision of working together and now that vision is a reality. He is very excited to showcase for you the lifestyle that Governors Club and the Chapel Hill area offers.

Originally from the Hudson Valley region of New York State, Scott Kelley moved to the North Carolina Triangle in 1993. After a short period of working in hospitality management field, Scott made a career moved into real estate and joined the Governors Club Development team in November of 1994.

Over the years, Scott has worked through all capacities of the organization. Prior to making the move into full time sales, Scott served as the community’s Director of Resale Operations, headed-up our Broker Relations department, and was the Project Coordinator for the management team of Governors Club Development Corporation. He also worked regularly with the community’s Custom Home Program and Architectural Review Board.

Scott is the proud parent of three terrific children – a five year old son and two and a half year old twin daughters.

Cathy Twigg


Cathy and her family relocated to the Tar Heel State in 2003. She received her sales agent and broker licenses from North Carolina in 2004, and subsequently joined Governors Club Realty. Prior to moving to Chapel Hill, she was an agent for one of the largest realty firms in the U.S. Cathy worked in the most productive sales team in the Bethesda, Maryland office - an office which was the first in the nation to reach $1 billion in annual sales.

While raising four children in Potomac, Maryland, Cathy found time to volunteer for Montgomery County’s Teenage Runaway Program, serve as a court-appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children (CASA), and be active in the MOM Program, a nationally-sponsored organization that pairs experienced mothers with underprivileged unwed teens. She was also highly involved as a volunteer in the Montgomery County School system. In addition to her commitment to children, Cathy is a certified Lamaze Instructor. She also has a passion for interior design, and her Maryland home was featured on the Potomac House Tour.

Cathy’s commitment to community is equaled by a commitment to her real estate clients. As a high-integrity professional, she strives to provide quality service supported by solid facts and reliable, open communication. Cathy holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Rhode Island.

Jeannie is originally from New York City and worked at IBM Corporation until relocating to Chapel Hill with her family in 1993.

Prior to joining Governors Club Realty, Jeannie spent several years working as an account manager at a publishing company helping to produce sales training materials for pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

Custom Home Program Director

April is a native of Sneads Ferry/Topsail Island, North Carolina. She has worked in the Triangle for over 8 years in Marketing/Programs Management. Currently, April is the Custom Home Program Director for Governors Club. She is responsible for assisting our design-build customers with an introduction to our Custom Home Program, its team members and coordination of the Program’s various services and activities. In her free time, April enjoys scrapbooking, singing in the choir and spending time with her family. Rhonda Strother is orginally from Chapel Hill. She attended college in Long Beach, California and graduated with a degree in business. After school she returned to her hometown area, and now resides in Pittsboro, North Carolina. She has 11 years of experience in accounting and has been with Governors Club for 9 years.

Resale Manager

Debby Temmermand moved to North Carolina from New Jersey in 1998. She has worked in real estate ever since, first with George Bell Productions, then in general brokerage with a Century 21 affiliate. Debby has been at Governors Club Realty since August 2000, first as an administrative assistant and now as the Resale Manager.

Raoul Rushin
Principal

Raoul is the Principal and sole shareholder of the entity that owns Governors Club Realty and its Custom Home Program.

Prior to purchasing the company, Raoul was Vice President of Business Development with the now 900 agent firm, Prudential Carolina Real Estate, in Charleston, SC. Previously, he was a Senior Analyst for Franchise Development for Coldwell Banker Corporation in Atlanta, GA.

Raoul, his wife Kathie, and teenage children, Katherine and Emmett, are members of Governors Club and are very much enjoying all that the Triangle of North Carolina affords its residents. “Having lived in Washington, D.C., Birmingham, MI, Boston, Atlanta and Charleston, SC; I can assure you that Governors Club will be one of those rare gems you don’t often find…”
