“My goal is to provide highly individualized client services,” says Kim. “I use my own tested design methodology to craft elegant living solutions. I enjoy working personally with each owner to develop and detail the design in his or her preferred architectural style, then teaming with the contractor to translate these ideas into a soundly constructed home. I employee a range of service options and a variety of excellent consultants to address diverse project design requirements, ensuring that designs are aesthetic, rational, and cost-effective.”

Steven Clipp Architecture

Many years ago Steve Clipp was half owner of a large, commercial architecture firm. He retired from the business of architecture to take up the avocation of architecture.

He believes that just as it is possible to hand craft a fine table, it is possible to hand craft a fine home; to listen intensely and understand the owner’s dreams, then to make them come true. To make the home’s exterior an evocative picture. To infuse the interior with light, flowing spaces and cozy nooks.

Handcrafting a home design involves drawing on paper so that every line has meaning and so that there is time for contemplation of that meaning. It involves the building of a physical model to discover the subtle relationships that make the home visually stand out. Finally it involves painstaking re-evaluations to hone each space and each view interior the best it can be. Handcrafted does not mean more costly. A well-designed house has more clarity of concept and more economy of material. Steve Clipp believes value for the money is an intrinsic part of a well crafted home.

Whether in French Country, Northeastern Shingle or Prairie Style, Steve Clipp’s homes are visually striking. But where they really stand out is in the comfort of the owners. If sitting in one of his homes brings an involuntary smile – he has succeeded.

William J. Hirsch, Jr.  AIA

For over 20 years, William J. Hirsch, Jr. conducted a varied architectural practice in Delaware, designing commercial buildings, offices, churches and residential projects.  While acknowledging that this wide range of experience gave him a broad base of knowledge, Hirsch admits his first and true love is designing custom homes.  In 1994, he began working at Governors Club; in 1997, he followed his dream and relocated to North Carolina.

"My approach is to work closely with my clients - not just to create a great house, but to create their new 'home' - customized to their personal tastes and needs.  I find it challenging as well as rewarding to design homes in a variety of styles, letting the design reflect the vision of my client," Hirsch states.  "A close interactive relationship with my client - an understanding of their lifestyle, dreams and desires - combined with the special considerations of their terrain and views at Governors Club: this is what will produce a truly unique and custom home."

Hirsch encourages property owners at Governors Club to talk with current homeowners as well as with the staff at Governors Club to learn from their experiences and relationships with members of the Custom Home Program.
